The School of International Education(SIE) at WXIT actively implemented the strategy of “attracting international students to Jiangsu”, and has successively enrolled more than 2,132 international students from over 60 countries and regions, of which 80% are from countries along with the “Belt and Road” Initiative. As of July 2021, four batches of international students had graduated from the college, of which 56% goes to universities for undergraduate studies, 26% finds jobs in Chinese-funded companies that go global, and 22% gets employed in companies of their country of origin. In 2018, when attending the 2018 BRI and BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition and the second 3D Printing and Intelligent Manufacturing Skills Competition, a group of international students of the college from South Africa stood out from many participating teams and won the first prize in the 3D printing technology competition. In 2019, the college’s international student group won the first prizes in both CAD mechanical design and automotive technology among the international student groups of various colleges in the first SCO Nations Vocational Skills Competition. In 2019, the South African international student group of the college won the first prize in International Invitational of the Higher Vocational Education Group of the National Vocational College Skills Competition for Digital Design and Manufacturing of Industrial Product, and the Indonesian international student group won the first prize in International Invitational of the Higher Vocational Education Group of the National Vocational College Skills Competition for Industrial Robot Technology Application. In 2020, a Bangladeshi international student of the college was awarded the Jiangsu Youth Friendship Ambassador (the only foreigner in the province).

The School carried out education cooperation with overseas colleges and enterprises that go global, and successively established its overseas branches or centres such as Delong School in Indonesia, Thaksin School and Rayong School of Mechatronic Engineering in Thailand, a Chinese language Center in Malaysia working with Management and Science University, and a Chinese language Center in Indonesia working with Trisakti Education Group. The college’s two Chinese language centres provided over 1,500 international students with Chinese language training for 170,000 person-times, which promoted cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, achieved educational output and enhanced people-to-people ties.

The School and SEAMEO VOCTECH set up ASEAN-China Teachers Training and Development Center (ACTTDC), and carried out 18 batches of teacher training for more than 180 professional teachers and management teams from ASEAN countries. In addition, it established the China-Indonesia Tourism and Hotel Management Research Center with the Association of Indonesia Tourism and Tertiary Education Institution (AITTEI) to build a platform for further internationalization of teaching and research and development. In 2018, its China-Indonesia Tourism and Hotel Management Professional Talent Training Project was selected into the first batch of 20 China-ASEAN Higher Vocational College Characteristic Cooperation Projects. In 2020, its China-Malaysia International Talent Joint Training Project was selected into the third batch of China-ASEAN Higher Vocational College Characteristic Cooperation Projects.
