On the morning of June 18, the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025 international students of our institute was grandly held in the first-floor conference hall of Houde Building. Fourteen international students graduated successfully, while thirty language preparatory students and international exchange students completed their programs. Together, they opened a new chapter in their lives witnessed by guests from overseas partner institutions, institute leaders, faculty, parents, classmates, and relatives.
Twelve leaders from overseas partner institutions, including Saiful Anwar, Rector of Politeknik Negeri Jember (Indonesia), and Eddy Jusuf, Rector of Universitas Universal Jakarta (Indonesia), attended the ceremony online. Institute leaders present included Gong Fanghong (Party Committee Secretary), Zhou Guijin (President), Yang Xueqin (Deputy Party Committee Secretary), and Wu Huiyuan (Vice President). Over 100 attendees—including representatives from the International Education College, relevant functional departments, secondary schools, faculty, and current students—participated in the ceremony, which was hosted by Zhang Xiaoming, Vice Dean of the International Education College.
In his address, Gong Fanghong extended warm congratulations to the graduating international students and recalled their touching experiences during their studies in Wuxi—overcoming cultural differences, honing professional skills, and actively engaging in campus cultural activities. He emphasized that in this era of global educational connectivity, international students serve as invaluable bridges linking Chinese and foreign cultures and technologies. Gong expressed hope that the students would continue promoting Chinese culture, sharing China’s stories, building bridges of friendship, excelling in their respective fields, and contributing wisdom to advancing the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Saiful Anwar and Eddy Jusuf acknowledged that the institute’s advanced practical training facilities and profound industry-integration experience have laid a solid foundation for the students’ career development. They highlighted the fruitful outcomes of inter-institutional cooperation in cultivating a cohort of high-quality international technical talents.
During the farewell segment, international student representatives expressed heartfelt attachment and gratitude to their alma mater. Graduate representative Syahrul Alam shared his journey from language adaptation to professional excellence, specifically thanking teachers for their patient guidance and classmates for their selfless support. This invaluable experience will be the most powerful engine for my future career path! Another graduate, Arfira Armelia Arbar, conveyed her aspirations for further studies and love for Chinese culture, humorously noting she had fallen deeply in love with Wuxi’s soup dumplings and the misty waves of Taihu Lake. She pledged to bring the knowledge gained and warmth experienced back to her homeland.
Faculty representative Wang Rong (School of IoT Engineering) shared his pride in witnessing the students’ growth and transformation. He affectionately stated, Wuxi University of Technology will forever remain your spiritual home and strong support in China. We look forward to seeing you showcase the excellence of Chinese vocational education students on the global stage!
During the awards segment, Wu Huiyuan announced the graduation and program completion statistics. Yang Xueqin read the Decision on Commending Outstanding 2025 International Graduates and Decision on Commending Outstanding 2025 International Program Completers, recognizing students who excelled in academic performance, research innovation, and cultural exchange.
Amid solemn music, Zhou Guijin presented graduation certificates and performed the tassel-turning ritual for each graduate—each tassel adjustment symbolizing academic accomplishment and readiness to soar, and each handshake conveying the alma mater’s earnest blessings and expectations. Subsequently, institute leaders presented certificates to program completers and outstanding graduates.
Graduates embraced one another and took group photos, their eyes reflecting both anticipation for the future and nostalgia for the institute. This ceremony not only celebrated the academic achievements of the 2025 international student cohort but also epitomized the institute’s deep integration into the Belt and Road educational initiatives and its commitment to high-quality international vocational education. The institute will continue optimizing its global talent cultivation system, building broader platforms for cultural and technical exchange, and nurturing more China-knowledgeable, China-friendly, globally competitive technical talents—contributing vocational education strength to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
