On the morning of May 8th, Dr. Ron Opp, executive director of US internationalization consortium and dean of Judith Herbie School of Education, University of Toledo, visited WXIT. Vice President Feng Yuan warmly welcomed him.
During the visit, Dr. Ron Opp and Vice Principal Feng Yuan had an in-depth discussion on the successful experience of the internationalization process of our institute, the next five-year plan as well as the possible challenges in the future. After Vice Principal Feng Yuan's detailed introduction, Dr. Ron Opp spoke highly of the achievements of our institute in pursuing internationalization. In view of the challenges that our institute may face in this regard in the future, Dr. Ron Opp said he was willing to build a platform, facilitating overseas training for faculties, further studies and student exchange programs through US Internationalization Consortium, meanwhile looking for US sponsors to provide necessary assistance in the above mentioned areas.
US Internationalization Consortium aims to provide and share international resources of community colleges in Ohio and Michigan globally, leveraging education resources of the University of Toledo and more than 50 community colleges in the two states, expanding regional cooperation to enhance the international influence, offering Chinese students in the United States accesses to upgrade their associate degree to bachelor degree. So far, the consortium has facilitated the cooperation projects between 20 applied vocational colleges in China and US community colleges, exampled by Shanghai Institute of Electrical Engineering’s cooperation project with its US partners. At the same time, the consortium has provided dozens of colleges and universities in China’s 8 provinces with overseas training programs both for teachers and students.
