On April 27, the CPC Jiangsu Municipal Committee and Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government held the Commendation Conference on the High Quality Development of Jiangsu in 2019. Results of Jiangsu comprehensive assessment in 2019 were announced and units, regions, universities and colleges with outstanding results were awarded. WXIT ranked the first class among local colleges and universities of Jiangsu in 2019, scoring the highest among all colleges of its kind (Jiangsu provincial high-level higher vocational institutes). Zhu Aisheng, party secretary of WXIT accepted the award on behalf of the Institute.
To fully implement the new thought and new concept, and endeavor to lead in pursuing high-quality development, Jiangsu carries out the comprehensive assessment as a major institutional arrangement. The assessment in 2019 is the second time that Jiangsu tests the performance of high-quality development across the province. 72 provincial colleges and universities were included in the annual comprehensive assessment of Jiangsu for the first time. The comprehensive assessment on colleges and universities mainly evaluates the work of party building, high-quality development and satisfaction rate on school running. The standard, weighting and score vary according to the different types of colleges and universities. For the 22 high level higher vocational institutes, their achievements at national level are of great importance in the assessment, so as to encourage these institutes to create more Jiangsu experience and classic examples with national influence. Meanwhile, on the basis of quantitative assessment index with a total of 80 points, 20 points each, the assessment set another two categories specifically, namely high-quality development and party building work, 20 points each. In doing so, outstanding achievements and classic cases in party building and annual work of higher education institutes are assessed, and scores are given during the presentations of party secretaries and presidents of colleges and universities. Higher education is encouraged to pursue development with distinctive features. The effective and comprehensive assessment system boosts the high-quality development of colleges and universities, and further enhanced the intelligent support to the high-quality development of Jiangsu.
Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era, WXIT carried out the campaign of Staying Ture to the Original Aspiration and Keep Our Mission Firmly in Mind in 2019. By surmounting difficulties, making breakthroughs and pursuing quality development, WXIT’s comprehensive strength continues to grow. It is listed in the top 10 high-quality school running units in China (A class), and among the first tier of national high-level higher vocational colleges and discipline building with Chinese characteristics. In 2019, WXIT successfully held the commemoration ceremony on the 60th anniversary of its establishment, passed the review for vocational institutes in China with outstanding performance. One party branch was rated National Model Party Branch for Party Building. WXIT was awarded Jiangsu Civilized Campus, National Model Public Institute for Energy Conservation and Jiangsu Model Unit for Foreign Students Education and Management. One professor of WXIT was accredited national renowned teacher, and one team was shortlisted in national teaching team. The Institute won the first prize in Jiangsu for mechanical technology advancement, successfully applied national natural science fund and humanities and social science projects of the Ministry of Education. Our students won 5 first prizes in national competitions, awarded National Outstanding Communist Youth League Members and National Stars of Self-Improvement. One volunteer team was granted National Outstanding Team in Social Practice during Summer Holiday.
The year 2020 marks the conclusion of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects at high level and the 13th Five-year Plan period. In the face of epidemic prevention and control and pursuing high-quality development, WXIT will keep the morale and record new achievements, so as to march forward in building national high-level higher vocational colleges and disciplines, and a renowned institute featuring intelligent manufacturing with international and national influence. WXIT will contribute more to Jiangsu in pursuing sustainability, civility and prosperity.
