To speed up the building of national high-level higher vocational colleges and disciplines with Chinese characteristics, and promote internationalized development, the Conference on Promoting Internationalized Development in Building National High-level Higher Vocational Institutes and Disciplines with Chinese Characteristics was held in room F201 of the multi-purpose building on the afternoon of September 14. 26 people including President Gong Fanghong, deans of the School of International Education and others, teachers, and leading professors attended the conference. Targets were set and consensus were reached on promoting internationalized development at the conference.
President Gong Fanghong pointed out, internationalized development is a key component in building national high-level higher vocational colleges and disciplines with Chinese characteristics, and a main task for quality development. In recent years, WXIT has been taking bold steps in pursuing educational internationalization and has made remarkable progress. With its improved global influence, internationalization has provided strong support to the building of national high-level higher vocational colleges and disciplines with Chinese characteristics. Currently, the world is still mired in the Covid-19 pandemic, so does the work of internationalization in education. We must stand firmly to pursue internationalized development and have a long-term vision, which means putting more efforts into cultivating talents, developing high-quality education and attracting more overseas students to WXIT. By setting standards, developing curriculum and discipline, and improving quality of internationalization, we hope to turn crisis into opportunities and march forward against all odds. It is a new start for the internationalization of the Institute, which requires collaboration between the Institute and all Schools.
Introductions were made by staff from the School of International Education on tasks for internationalized development, online education for overseas students of fall semester in 2020, on-on-one tutor mechanism for overseas students, foreign students management, sino-foreign school running projects, and teaching arrangements for Ireland Institute. In-depth discussions were held among all attendees on the above-mentioned topics.
In recent years, WXIT taps into its own advantages and integrates itself into the Belt and Road Initiative, making internationalization an organic part of the Institute’s development in the new era. WXIT blazed an internationalized path for the development of vocational institutes, on which more excellent international resources are introduced, international education capacity is enhanced and WXIT education standard can be exported. With the realization of introduction and exportation, integration between industries and education, and international cooperation projects on discipline building, effective support for the building of national high-level higher vocational colleges and disciplines with Chinese characteristics is provided.
