On March 25, the opening ceremony of Wuxi's 2026 "International Month" and International Cherry Blossom Appreciation Week was held in grand style at the Wuxi International Conference Center. International students from Wuxi Vocational and Technical University were among the invited guests, joining young people and international friends from around the world to witness the launch of this celebrated annual event.
More Than Spectators — Active Participants
Our students didn't simply attend — they showed up as contributors. Taking on roles as international youth talent, cultural storytellers, music co-creators, and cultural tourism ambassadors, they brought energy, personality, and purpose to every corner of the event.
During the opening ceremony, students mingled with Chinese and international peers, sharing their personal experiences of studying and living in Wuxi. Through candid conversations and genuine enthusiasm, they became informal ambassadors for China — and for Wuxi — telling the city's story in their own words, through their own eyes.
Making Music, Making Connections
In one of the event's most memorable moments, a group of our students took to the stage for the International Music Co-Creation segment, performing alongside artists from different cultural backgrounds. Music, as it so often does, transcended language — offering a powerful reminder that friendship and understanding need no translation.
Discovering Wuxi's Cultural Soul
Beyond the stage, students explored the interactive exhibition area, where they engaged with Wuxi's intangible cultural heritage and discovered the city's rich offerings in culture and tourism. Their curiosity and willingness to dive in reflected the open-minded, enthusiastic spirit that has come to define our international student community.
A Platform to Speak, a Stage to Shine
For our international students, the event was far more than a cultural outing. It was an opportunity to step into the spotlight, engage with the wider world, and deepen their connection to the city they now call home. By participating in the broader "International Month" series, they have not only broadened their own horizons — they have become active advocates for cross-cultural understanding, contributing the energy and optimism of youth to a more connected, more inclusive world.
