On September 19, 2025, School of International Education organized the first orientation session for the 2025 cohort of international freshmen at the Confucius Classroom. The event was jointly hosted by Vice Dean Sun Taiwei and teacher Xie Mingming, with participation from over 60 international students from seven countries, including Morocco, Tanzania, Kazakhstan, Russia, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan.
Vice Dean Sun Taiwei addressed key aspects of student management and services, covering topics such as apartment regulations and support, leave and attendance policies, residence permit procedures, fee payment and refund policies, religious policies and legal regulations, as well as medical insurance and claims processes. Using real-life examples, he provided detailed guidance and suggestions to help students adapt to their new academic and living environment. He emphasized the college’s commitment to creating a safe, standardized, and convenient study and living experience for international students, encouraging them to adapt quickly to their new phase of life in a new country.
Teacher Xie Mingming systematically explained post-enrollment procedures, including medical check-up requirements and appointment methods, required documents and deadlines for residence permit applications, details on medical insurance enrollment and usage, as well as classroom discipline and attendance management. He also answered frequently asked questions regarding administrative procedures and daily academic life and established online communication channels for further assistance.
During the interactive session, students actively asked questions, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere. Many expressed that the lecture was "timely and highly practical," resolving their doubts about visas and accommodation. Students also described the explanations as "clear, patient, and full of care."
This orientation session not only familiarized the new students with university regulations and relevant Chinese laws but also strengthened their sense of belonging and identity with the college. It laid a solid foundation for their smooth adaptation to academic life in China. The International Education College will continue to improve its services and management for international students, promoting high-quality and standardized development of international education in China.
