Delegates from the 8th China-Latin America Civilization Dialogue Forum visited WXUT during their recent trip to Wuxi, engaging in cultural exchange and exploring innovative educational practices. The forum, themed "Civilization Exchange for Development, Shared Future Together," took place September 11-12 and welcomed over 50 government officials, think tank scholars, and university representatives from Latin America and the Caribbean, along with 24 journalists.
Accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, Jiangsu Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, and Wuxi Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, the delegation was received by WXUT Party Secretary Gong Fanghong, Vice President Wu Huiyuan, and staff from the International Exchange and Cooperation Office.
The visitors toured the School of Art and Design, the Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering Center, and the College of Automotive and Transportation Engineering. Faculty members highlighted key initiatives, including the Yijiangnan Cultural Heritage Innovation Base, the colored clay sculpture titled Two Jiangnans: Blood Ties, intelligent warehousing and logistics testing platforms, robotics competition labs, virtual simulation facilities, and the BYD Automotive Industry College—all effectively showcasing the innovative integration of intangible cultural heritage and advanced manufacturing.
Established in 2017, the China-Latin America Civilization Dialogue Forum has become one of the most influential sub-national dialogue platforms between China and Latin America. This year's edition, which was officially incorporated into the Action Plan of the Global Civilization Dialogue Ministerial Meeting, was co-hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, the Latin American Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies of China International Publishing Group. Over 150 participants from nearly 20 countries—including ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, friendship city delegates, and youth leaders—attended the forum.
"This exchange exemplifies WXUT’s commitment to fostering international understanding through academic and cultural collaboration," Vice President Wu noted during the visit. WXUT will continue to strengthen ties with global partners through such high-level interactions, while bridging traditional culture and technological innovation on the world stage.
