On June 9, the Ministry of Education issued the Approval Letter on the Establishment of Wuxi University of Technology. On June 20, the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province released the Notice on the Establishment of Wuxi University of Technology. The documents indicate that approval has been granted to establish Wuxi University of Technology based on Wuxi Institute of Technology. Six vocational undergraduate programs are approved for the first intake: Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation; Numerical Control Technology; Electrical Engineering and Automation; Robot Technology; Internet of Things Engineering Technology; and Software Engineering Technology. This marks a new starting point for the institution to independently develop undergraduate-level vocational education, following its collaboration with Jiangsu University in offering higher vocational undergraduate programs since 2012.
