1.Program Introduction

The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) and Wuxi Institute of Technology (WXIT) signed the cooperation agreement on the 2+1+2 Combined Associate and Master Degree Program in 2016. The advantage of the program is that students can continue with Master degree directly after they obtain the Associate degree. According to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, students who finish 15 years of academic study are eligible to pursue Master degrees. In this project, students will study at WXIT for the first two years and transfer to Kyoto Japanese Language Training Center in October of the third year to study Japanese for one year. When students reach level 2 in Japanese language after one year, they will obtain the graduate certificate from WXIT. Passing the enrollment examination in the institute, students will directly get enrolled in KCGI for Master degree study for two more years. After completing the academic study in KCGI, students will obtain Master degrees recognized by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan.

KCGI accepts foreign student in the following majors:

• IT Manga & Anime

• IT Tourism

• Artificial Intelligence (AI)

  Foreign students who finish the above-mentioned courses will be granted the diploma of Master of Science in Information Technology recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.

   

  KCGI has a very mature graduates reference organization to help graduates for job seeking. The basic salary for the first year is around RMB 15,000 per month. Students can choose to find jobs in China, and KCGI will facilitate students to finish the diploma registration formalities on the official website of the Ministry of Education of China before they return.

   

2.Costs for Studying Abroad

The tuition fee for Japanese language study in Kyoto for the first year is JPY 820,000 per year (around RMB 45,000 according to the exchange rate of the day). Special treatment will be offered during the second to third year of master degree study, which means the tuition fee will be reduced to JPY 890,000 (around RMB 51,000 per year) from JPY 1.8 million.

The living expenses, including housing, clothing, meals, transportation and communication, costs about RMB 80,000 per year. The total cost per year is around RMB 120,000 to 130,000. Students can work at part-time jobs during studying in Japan and we encourage them to do so. It can help students practice Japanese language on the one hand, and alleviate the economic burden on the other. The minimum wage per hour in Kyoto is RMB 65, and students can work for 28 hour per week according to the law. We suggest that students work for 2 to 3 days per week, 4 hours each time. In doing so, the academic study will not be affected and students will have about RMB 3000 as income every month. When their Japanese language reach higher levels, students can change for jobs with higher payment.

3.Accommodation and Transportation

KCGI does not have dormitories, but is in stable cooperation relationship with Choei Property Management, a listed company in Kyoto and will recommend single apartments to students. Normally there will be single room for each person with independent toilet and kitchen with a total area of 10 to 12 square meters. The monthly rent is about JPY 36,000 to JPY 45,000 (around RMB 2500). We will try our best to arrange students in apartments near the campus, normally within 15 minutes by bicycle. There are many direct flights from Shanghai to Osaka every day, taking 2.5 hours. It takes 1 hour and 10 minutes by bus from Osaka to Kyoto.
