On May 29th, the inaugural meeting of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Vocational Education Research Association and the Vocational Education Forum on the Building of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind were held at Liming Vocational University in Fujian Province in China. WXIT was elected as a member of the Standing Committee of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Vocational Education Research Association, and Professor Xiong Ying, Dean of Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, was elected as the deputy director of the first committee of this association. Over 400 experts and scholars from more than 200 domestic colleges and universities participated in the event.

The inaugural meeting of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Vocational Education Research Association was hosted by Shi Wei, Executive Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education. Lu Xin, President of Chinese Society of Technical and Vocational Education and former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, delivered a speech and keynote presentation. On that day, the first Expert Forum and Principal Forum of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Vocational Education Research Association of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education were also held.  Experts and scholars were invited to make keynote presentations and the representatives of member units were also invited to share experiences, promoting research and exchanges.

In recent years, WXIT has integrated the opening-up of education into all areas and has carried out active practice and exploration in the field of the “One Belt and One Road“vocational education research. WXIT has introduced high-quality teaching and technological resources in the field of intelligent manufacturing from developed countries through multiple channels, having created intelligent manufacturing majors and curriculum standards with its own characteristics. WXIT has also carried out high-quality foreign student training, organized two overseas Chinese centers and three overseas branch schools, actively serving the Going Global Strategy for Chinese Enterprises and participating in international industrial capacity cooperation. The connotative development of WXIT has achieved outstanding results.
