Krirk University (KRU) was founded in 1952 by the renowned educator both in Thailand and abroad Dr. Krirk Mangkhlaphrik. It is the private university with the longest history in Thailand and also the one with the very competitive Political Communication College. Dr. Krirk (received an honorary doctorate in education from David & Elkins College, USA) established the university to promote the teaching of English language. As the first Thai people who taught Thai students to effectively use English, he is the founder of modern English teaching in Thailand and the university gets its name from him.

The incumbent president of KRU Professor Dr. Krasae Chananwongse also serves as the president of the Board of Directors of Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC). He was graduated from the Columbia University of the US, and is an outstanding medical scientist, professor, statesman, educator and expert in leadership studies. He has served in various prominent positions, such as the Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister of University Affairs, Minister to the Office of the Prime Minister and Minister of the Ministry of Public Health. He received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Community Leadership, the Nobel Prize of Asia, along with the Chinese scientist, the Father of Hybrid Rice, Professor Yuan Longping.

KRU is a member of the International Association of Universities (IAU). Aiming at developing smart society, knowledge system and teaching mechanism, the university offers bachelor, master and doctoral degrees. The university is organized into the Faculties of Business Administration, Communication Arts, Liberal Arts and Law, Political Communication College and International College. The university has 20 majors for bachelor degree (over 30 orientations), 8 majors for master degree (about 20 orientations) and 6 majors for doctoral degree (nearly 10 orientations). Its political relations and public management are national key disciplines of Thailand, and business management, education, sports and law are specially approved by the education authority of Thailand as the model disciplines and majors taught in Chinese, English and Thai.

Teaching language: teaching with Chinese, English and Thai bilingual training

Studying Mode: the courses for bachelor degree take about 1.5 years, and another 0.5 year is needed if the student applies for the diploma. Students who finish all the required credits for bachelor degree study and meets the graduate criteria will directly continue with master degree study without needing to acquire the bachelor diploma.

Majors and orientations of Bachelor of Education shall be carried out according to the standards of the teaching program, which is N+ 2.5 (course learning for 1.5 years + 8 to 10 months of internship). Curriculums of the regular classes for Bachelor of Arts shall be implemented according to the standard of course learning for N+1.5 years + 180+ hours of internship (above 2 months). Curriculums for the employment class for animation shall be implemented according to the standard of N+2 (course leaning for 1.5 years and domestic animation course of 0.5 year) + domestic paid internship for 0.5 year (replaceable by 180 hours of internship). N=2 or 2.5 or 3

Application Documents: Application, 2 inch profile photo on white background (5 in paper form and 1 in electronic form), first page of passport, ID (scanned file front and back), remittance document of RMB10,000 (which will be used to offset the tuition fees, scanned file of the residence booklet, graduate certificate of high school (technical school graduate certificate) and academic transcript, junior college diploma or studying certificate of junior college and academic transcript, notarization of high school graduate certificate, two original copies of the notarization of high school academic transcript.  

Graduation criteria for bachelor degree: finish all courses required by the major and obtain the credits as required; qualified test scores, no retake courses or make-up tests; GPA 2.0 and above.

Graduation criteria for master degree: GPA 3.0 and above; pass the English language tests; pass the comprehensive tests (written tests); thesis defense, around 30,000 (30,000 to 50,000)

Degree Granting and Graduation Treatment: students who meet the requirements for graduation will be granted the corresponding bachelor and master degrees. The Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange of the Ministry of Education of China will accredit the diploma and degrees. Students are eligible for the employment policies for full-time graduates of the year. Students meeting the requirements will enjoy favorable policies as high-level overseas returnees in purchasing cars with tax exemption, houses purchasing and starting businesses.

Selection and Enrollment Procedures: According to the training objectives, a preliminary review of the submitted materials and an interview and screening will be organized, and the list of candidates will be determined according to the selection principles. After review by Krik University, applicants will receive admission letters and go through registration procedures.  

Other Costs: Reference for costs in Bangkok: Krirk University provides single, double and four-bedroom apartments for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Single-bedroom costs around RMB 300 to 1,000 per month, and students will pay separately according to actual situation. Means are similar to the standard in Chinese universities, with each meal costing RMB 5 to 10.

Registration: Bachelor program registers in January, June, August and September. Registration for each session closes one month in advance.
